No Shave November
Make prostate cancer fear the beard.
How to Help
No Shave November
No Shave November – or Movember – is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches/ beards during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities. The goal of No Shave November is to “change the face of men’s health.”
By encouraging men to get involved, No Shave November aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, No Shave November encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Here’s how it works – those that want to observe and take part in No-Shave November (or Movember) are encouraged to grow a mustache during the month or really any combination of facial hair – mustache, beard, etc. (by using the No-Shave November mantra, women can participate too by wearing blue)
Ideally, you want people to ask “Why are you growing a beard, or lamb chops, or goatee” The answer of course is in support of men’s health awareness. You can always point them to our website where you can donate to help support our research initiatives!
We’d also love people to think of donating to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago to help our mission of awareness, education and innovation in trying to beat this disease!

Grow out your facial hair all throughout the month of November and when people ask you why, let them know you are raising awareness for men’s health, including prostate cancer. Ask your colleagues to donate to Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago (PCFC) in your honor.
Many employers will match contributions as well! Employers are also invited to contact Kelly O’Brien, PCFC Executive Director at (630) 366-7861, to discuss using No Shave November to launch your Corporate Wellness opportunity. We are available throughout the year to help build awareness with presentations on men’s health and prostate cancer, whether as a stand alone”lunch-and-learn” event, or as a topic fitting within your Wellness program.By encouraging men to get involved, No Shave November aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.
