Myths and Facts of Prostate Brachytherapy

There are many myths and misconceptions in respect to brachytherapy which are commonly accepted as truth.

In this video, Steven J. Frank, MD, Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, introduces the many myths about brachytherapy regarding age, body habitus, radiation exposure to family, cure, and long-term outcomes. 

He also talks about rising PSA within 3 years- Bounce, patient satisfaction, patient reported outcomes, penile shortening and regret, surgery after brachytherapy, salvage treatment secondary malignancy, see migration, hair loss, cremation, innovation, value, and the future of brachytherapy

Using data and research, he dispels them, revealing the truth of brachytherapy and its overall positive effects. In conclusion, he states that it is the most innovative, cost-effective, satisfying, and curative prostate cancer treatment.
