Nearly 700 women gathered on Friday, July 17, for the 11th annual Female Friday Funday Floatday, an annual kayaking event that brings friends together to raise awareness of prostate cancer and support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago.
The day centered on friendship and a shared purpose: encouraging conversations about a disease that affects men and the people who care about them. Participants took to the water, with Paddle ON! Outfitters once again providing kayak rentals for the event.
The foundation extends its thanks to longtime organizer Kim Williams and her team, along with the participants, volunteers and supporters who helped make the day possible. Their commitment has helped a gathering of friends grow into a lasting community effort. This year, the event drew 700 women and raised more than $45,000 for prostate cancer awareness.
Over the course of the eleven years it has been held, the event has raised over $270,000 for prostate cancer awareness!
“Female Friday Funday Floatday shows what can happen when people bring their friends together around a cause that matters,” said the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago. “We are grateful to Kim and everyone who continues to put their time and energy into this event.”
